Swapping the UK’s winter gloom for some well-earned rest, relaxation and celebration, enjoyed in and amongst beautiful Caribbean islands, makes for a simply unforgettable festive period.[ReadMoreMob] Leaving cold British shores behind, you’ll experience a transatlantic crossing on Braemar, stopping in the Azores to see São Miguel’s volcanic craters and lakes en route, before your Caribbean adventures begin. On St Kitts, perhaps ride the island’s scenic railway for vistas of ocean surf, mighty cliffs and rolling, lush-green landscapes; then enjoy a less crowded discovery of Guadeloupe’s capital, thick rainforest and volcanic peaks. Exotic, rainforest-smothered volcanic landscapes await exploration on Dominica too, as well as St Lucia, home to some of the Caribbean’s most majestic wonders – including the peaks of Twin Pitons – and St Vincent. Just before Christmas, sample Barbados’ laidback vibes and delicious rum, and revel in the sights and scents of Grenada – the ‘Spice Island’ – too.

Christmas Day is spent at sea, enjoying traditional food, fun and festivity in the company of friends, loved ones and fellow guests on board your smaller-sized ship, ahead of seeing out 2022 in style. You’ll get to seek-out Antigua’s historic sites, such as the English Harbour, and famous golden beaches, uncover the pirate history of Tortola and its natural wonders too, and discover the colonial landmarks and picturesque landscapes of St Maarten before a very special start to 2023. Experience the parades, parties and midnight fireworks of Nassau’s New Year’s Eve celebrations; you’ve time to see the scenic beauty of Bahamian landscapes, feel local culture or simply relax on sugar-white sands in Bimini and Nassau too. Finally, there are two days in Havana to capture the very essence of Cuba. You can take in Havana’s monuments and landmarks via a classic American car; sip daiquiri and mojito in their city of origin; and even enjoy an evening at the Tropicana. A wonderful end to your very special cruise.

Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity. But this is not for us. Find out more

1. WE ARE PROUD TO SAIL OUR OWN COURSE

We are free to do things a different way because we are family-run. Of course some people enjoy the bigger, busier cruises, but it is not for everyone, and it is not for us. We prefer to do things, 'The Olsen Way'.

2. SMALLER IS BETTER

We have fewer guests, so the atmosphere on board our ships is always warm and civilised. Our smaller ships allow us to visit the more interesting places that the world has to offer.

3. HAND-CRAFTED, NOT MASS PRODUCED

We pride ourselves on putting our all into the Fred. Olsen cruise experience. Our itineraries are created from scratch every year, our service is genuinely personal and each and every area of our ships is designed by hand.
