Embark on a relaxing and rewarding eight night sailing aboard Black Watch and blend the delights and highlights of three charming French cities with a slice of the British summer.

Your escape to French shores begins with a cruise to St Malo, situated on the gorgeous coast of Brittany. Once a fortified island, St Malo features a fascinating Old Town encased by imposing granite walls, and beautiful beaches perfect for making the most of the summer sunshine. Take the day to explore or perhaps tour to the dramatic island of Mont St Michel, with its iconic spired abbey and fairytale-esque collection of narrow alleys, medieval fortifications and over 60 French National Heritage Sites. You’ll then glide through beautiful French countryside as your ship sails the winding River Seine to Rouen, a wonderful way to spend a Sunday. A smorgasbord of historic sites await your discovery in Rouen, including the incredible Gothic-style Cathédrale de Notre Dame, the 14th century Gros Horloge and Place du Vieux Marché, where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. Alternatively you could taste the flavours of the Normandy region; or join a tour to Claude Monet House and Gardens. [ReadMore]

Black Watch will then depart for Honfleur, cruising back along the picturesque Seine as you enjoy a relaxing evening on board. An early arrival into Honfleur will allow you to explore this historic city at your leisure after waking up from yet another comfortable night’s sleep. Once ashore you’ll discover café-lined 16th century cobbled streets, eye-catching architectural highlights including St Catherine’s Church and a delightful Old Harbour offering a reminder of Normandy’s fascinating maritime past. Finally you’ll stop-off at St Peter Port, the capital of Guernsey – a beautiful British island situated off the coast of France. Head ashore and discover an array of historic monuments including the ancient fortress and Napoleonic watchtower; or perhaps take advantage of the fantastic low-tax shopping available in the capital. For fine views of the neighbouring islands, be sure to visit the award-winning Candie Gardens.

Black Watch is the ultimate home-from-home at sea: spacious with a friendly, familiar feel and providing a traditional cruise experience. Refurbished at the end of 2016, the 804-guest Black Watch features stylish new décor, fittings and furniture, plus the new The Poolside restaurant. What's more, new TVs, mini-bars and safes enhance the accommodation on board, while the on board cinema has been upgraded too. Despite all these new features, Black Watch still retains her sleek, intimate style and has a welcoming ambience - just like the rest of the Fred. Olsen fleet.

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
