Experience a magical festive season, discovering the delights of beautiful islands and revelling in all things classic Caribbean.[ReadMoreMob] You join Braemar in Barbados, where there’s time to Bridgetown’s laidback charm and taste locally produced rum, and visit the fragrant ‘spice island’ of Grenada before enjoying Christmas at sea – a day of traditional food, fun and festivity enjoyed in the company of friends, loved ones and fellow guests on board. As 2022 draws to a close, your island discovery really kicks into high gear; take your pick of Antigua’s historic sites, such as the English Harbour, and famous golden beaches, uncover the pirate history of Tortola and its natural wonders too, and discover the colonial landmarks and picturesque landscapes of St Maarten.

Three days in the Bahamas ensure a very special start to 2023. You smaller ship takes you to Nassau on New Year’s Eve; parades, parties and the obligatory midnight fireworks display are all part of the festivities you could be part of here. There’s time in Nassau, and Bimini, to capture the scenic beauty of Bahamian landscapes too, feel local culture or simply indulge in hours of relaxation on sugar-white sands. Finally, for an unforgettable end to your Caribbean island discovery, there are two days in Havana to capture the very essence of Cuba. You could spend a day taking in Havana’s monuments and landmarks via a classic American car; sip daiquiri and mojito in the city where these delicious tipples were first invented; and even enjoy an evening at the Tropicana. Whatever you choose to do, you’re sure to be left captivated by the Cuban capital.

Braemar is the shortest of Fred. Olsen's four smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships, with dimensions perfect for cruising picturesque, size-restricted rivers and docking in the heart of fascinating towns and cities.

Like the rest of the fleet, Braemar assumes the welcoming feel and intimacy of a country house hotel, and a sense of timeless style and elegance flows through the ship's comfortable bars and lounges, restaurants and spacious accommodation for up to 929 guests.

In recent years, we have seen a new era emerging in cruising.

There is a trend for everything to get bigger and busier, and for a cruise to be seen as an alternative to a large luxury resort, with a limitless flurry of activity. But this is not for us. Find out more

1. WE ARE PROUD TO SAIL OUR OWN COURSE

We are free to do things a different way because we are family-run. Of course some people enjoy the bigger, busier cruises, but it is not for everyone, and it is not for us. We prefer to do things, 'The Olsen Way'.

2. SMALLER IS BETTER

We have fewer guests, so the atmosphere on board our ships is always warm and civilised. Our smaller ships allow us to visit the more interesting places that the world has to offer.

3. HAND-CRAFTED, NOT MASS PRODUCED

We pride ourselves on putting our all into the Fred. Olsen cruise experience. Our itineraries are created from scratch every year, our service is genuinely personal and each and every area of our ships is designed by hand.
