This unparalleled voyage to paradise provides the perfect escape from the January cold and gloom, offering plenty of classic Caribbean highlights and experiences. Visits to a collection of beautiful islands afford opportunities to sample authentic flavours and cultures, encounter incredible wildlife, explore stunning landscapes and, in true Caribbean style, indulge in pure relaxation too.

Following two days at sea to settle into life on board Black Watch and a chance to revel in the famous port wines and riverscapes of Oporto, three gorgeous Atlantic Ocean islands will whet your appetite for your Caribbean discovery. You could head to the magnificent Cabo Girão sea cliff for unspoilt ocean views too. Meanwhile, there’ll be plentiful amounts of diverse scenery – and soothing winter sunshine – to soak up in the Canary Islands. Mount Teide can be seen in all its towering glory in Tenerife, perhaps on an exciting cable car tour from Santa Cruz de Tenerife, while the mysterious stepped structures and poison gardens of the Pyramids of Güímar are an arresting sight. La Palma will also beg for your exploration from Santa Cruz de La Palma: the Canaries’ ‘pretty island’ is a UNESCO-listed Biosphere Reserve of untouched forests and volcanic landscapes. Verdant Los Tilos and the dramatic San Antonio Volcanic Park are particular highlights. [ReadMoreDesk]

Having finally crossed the Atlantic – one of the great ocean cruise experiences – the Caribbean adventures begin in Barbados. Arriving in Bridgetown, there’ll be time to uncover the very best of this British-influenced island. Perhaps sample the typically Caribbean, laidback lifestyle in the colourful city centre; or opt for tours to see the impressive stalactites and stalagmites of Harrison’s Cave, explore the exotic Hunte’s Garden, or go in search of sea turtles on a catamaran cruise. Antigua, famed for its 365 sun-soaked beaches and interesting historic sites, is the perfect place to enjoy yet another day of relaxation and exploration, before your island-hopping continues in Tortola. Road Town is the starting point for delving into Tortola’s fascinating pirate history on a memorable scenic boat and safari bus tour; and is also home to the world-famous Pussers Bar, serving up authentic Caribbean rum and friendly vibes. A call at Grand Turk follows, for one final chance to make the most of the Caribbean sunshine on white-sand beaches, take a refreshing dip in the island’s warm, crystal-clear waters, or even snorkel tropical reefs, before you disembark in Havana, Cuba.
