Authentic Andalusia & Seville Orange Blossom
Departed 17th Mar 2018 14 nights Sails from Southampton Braemar M1806
Join Braemar for an unforgettable fortnight of exploration and uncover the cultures, traditions and impressive sights of a string of stunning cities in Andalusia – one of Spain’s most spectacular and seductive regions.
After visiting La Coruna – home of the historic Torre de Hercules and your gateway to the incredible Santiago de Compostela Cathedral – you’ll sail south to Almería. Here dramatic volcanic scenery off-set by whitewashed houses and ancient fortresses will present you with your first glimpse of authentic Andalusia. The marvels of Malaga will then await your discovery, from the Moorish Alcazaba Fortress to the ‘mile of art’, where you can learn about the life and works of Pablo Picasso – a Malaga native – at the Picasso Museum. Alternatively you could take advantage of your full day stay to tour to nearby Granada and see the striking Alhambra Palace, which sits amongst breathtaking gardens. [ReadMore]
Before continuing your Andalusian adventure in stunning Seville, you’ll also enjoy a day in Gibraltar – the Mediterranean’s ‘little bit of Britain’. The high street stores and fish & chip shops give Gibraltar a British feel, though the sun-kissed beaches and stunning scenery will remind you that you’re on the gorgeous Spanish coast. The sail into Seville via the winding Guadalquivir River will be an undoubted highlight of this superb Spanish cruise. Instead of having to endure a 90-minute bus ride from Cádiz to Seville, you'll be able step ashore and head straight into the city to discover attractions galore. Highlights include the Metropol Parasol, Alcázar Palace and the UNESCO-listed Cathedral, which are hidden within a maze of grand boulevards and pretty squares. You’ll also get to immerse yourself in the springtime sights and scents of the beautiful orange blossom which bursts into bloom at this time of the year; and experience an evening of traditional flamenco dancing during your overnight stay. Your final Spanish stop is historic Cádiz, where you could relax on the golden-sand beaches; explore the Old Town; or embark on a tour to neighbouring Jerez for a special performance at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art before sailing home. En route back to Southampton your ship will also divert to Lisbon, the Portuguese capital packed with museums and architectural wonders.
