For a unique cultural experience, a call at Parintins will present you with an opportunity to sample the Boi Bumba, Brazil’s second largest festival after the Rio Carnival. Although the annual festival actually takes places in June, a special private performance of the Boi Bumba show will be put on for you and your fellow guests to sample the explosion of colour, costume, culture and music. There’s also visits to Santarem, where the Alter do Chao beach and bustling Mercado Market are among the highlights, and Belem, capital of the Pará state. Belem is your gateway to Mangal das Garças ecological park and the river island of Marajó, and an ideal starting point for parrot spotting excursions.
