This in-depth exploration of some of Italy’s most breathtaking regions presents you with engrossing culture, spectacular scenery and remarkable history. You’ll enjoy authentic experiences galore on the impossibly beautiful Amalfi Coast, Tuscany and the sumptuous Italian Riviera as Boudicca sails between a collection of enchanting towns and cities.

Attraction-packed Malaga and the Spanish island of Menorca make for rewarding stops en route to Sorrento, the starting point for your Italian adventure. Situated on the gorgeous Amalfi Coast, overlooking the Bay of Naples, Sorrento offers postcard-perfect views of legendary Mount Vesuvius and Naples that will whet your appetite for what’s to come. In Naples, you could choose to stay in the city and explore its UNESCO-listed centre; or take a tour to the ruins of Pompeii, an ash-smothered ancient city devastated by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79CE. Back on the Amalfi Coast Boudicca will then drop anchor at Amalfi. This dazzling town boasts quintessential scenes of mountainous landscapes dotted with whitewashed terraced villas, beckoning you ashore to explore. A handful of impressive Arab-Romanesque buildings and vivacious piazzas await you in the town centre. Positano – the Amalfi Coast’s prettiest town – is within reach too; perhaps you’ll enjoy a tour here before boarding your ship again for a memorable scenic cruise by the island of Capri. [ReadMore]

A call at Civitavecchia, gateway to mighty Rome, offers you a chance to discover the seemingly endless highlights of Italy’s incredible capital city; from the magnificent Colosseum and the Roman Forum, to the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica. All can be seen in their majestic glory after a short journey from the port. Then, in Tuscany, you have an opportunity to tour to Pisa from Livorno to marvel at the iconic Leaning Tower and 11th century Duomo; or Florence, a romantic city of domes, towers and spires set amongst a backdrop of rolling Tuscan hills. Three magical days on the Italian Riviera follow. You’re sure to be enthralled by the upmarket, pocket-sized fishing village of Portofino, with its quaint townhouses, charming marina and forested hills. Nearby Paraggi Beach is the perfect place to unwind. Your final Italian call is Genoa. This city oozes with historic importance; grand palaces and piazzas display its rich heritage. An overnight stay affords time to explore at leisure, though you could also choose to tour to fashionable Milan. Before returning home, your authentic exploration concludes with calls at Cartagena, Lisbon and Vigo, three cities packed with cultural and architectural highlights.

Named after the British warrior Queen, Boudicca has built up a loyal following, combining style and space with the renowned personal Fred. Olsen service. Up to 880 guests can sail in comfort on board Boudicca, enjoying the welcoming, home-from-home ambience, ample space and fantastic restaurants, lounges, bars and facilities of a smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ship.

Real ships
We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel.  We ensure they remain contemporary too: from winter 2016 to spring 2018 the whole fleet underwent dry dock refits to further enhance the facilities for guests. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman and 170 years of seafaring heritage behind us, we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.

Smaller but spacious
A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space; far from it. Each room is comfortably sized, with all that you’ll need to enjoy your holiday. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space.  With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to stretch out by the pool and you can get ashore more quickly too. And when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of each port of call with hundreds – not thousands – of others, giving you a much more authentic experience.

Service with a smile
Each member of the Fred. Olsen team has been carefully selected for their warm and welcoming personalities. The quality of our people, supported by training and development, ensures they will give you a great holiday: in guest feedback our staff are always the most highly-rated aspect of the whole experience.
