From the pier we will board our awaiting coach to begin our panoramic tour, passing by the Gardens of Los Cantones which was built on reclaimed land. As we pass we must watch for the “galleries” – houses whose windows reflect sunlight and whose façades were built by fishermen out of wood and glass. -

Departing from the pier, we will head towards the famous village of Betanzos, the Roman village that emerged from Old Castros. Betanzos contains wonderful examples of medieval architecture, with various houses bearing coats of arms, the ‘fishing quarter’ also makes it a delightful village to visit. -

We will pass by the San Anton Castle, located along the seafront promenade, which now houses the Archaeological Museum. We then proceed to Betanzos (Brigantium Flavium), the Roman town that emerged from old Castros. King Alfonso IX granted it the same law-code as La Coruña and so a new era of prosperity began.

We will see the vibrant and colourful local market and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with its magnificent architecture, before proceeding to Morne Fortune. Here we will marvel at the superb, sweeping view of Castries and the spectacular mountain range that extends across the island. On a clear day, the French island of Martinique can be seen on the horizon.

Bubba Bottom Fishing & Coastal Cruise (Tour D)

As we set sail for an approximate 45-minute cruise along the impressive St Maarten coastline, we will be given our high tech rod, reel and instructions from the crew. Upon reaching our fishing site we will drop anchor or drift (depending upon the current) for approximately two hours of enjoyable bottom fishing.

This is a truly unique tour, which invites us to join in the excitement of sailing onboard stunning racing yachts. No sailing experience is necessary, as our level of involvement is voluntary. After a safety briefing we will compete in an actual race around a shortened ‘America’s Cup’ course.
