From the pier we board our awaiting coach to begin our scenic tour of La Coruña, passing by the Gardens of Los Cantones, which were built on reclaimed land.

Departing the quayside, we drive towards the village of Betanzos, the Roman village that emerged from old Castros.

This excursion provides us with the opportunity to visit La Coruña and the famous village of Betanzos.

During the Middle Ages, there were three main places of pilgrimage for Christianity – Rome, Jerusalem and Santiago de Compostela.

El Jadida is an old Portuguese city, situated on the Atlantic coast. It is best known for its massive walled citadel, with it’s cistern, bastions and piers.

Departing the ship, we first drive along the coastal road and towards the Hassan II Mosque.

We begin our tour with a drive north to Rabat – one of the four imperial cities of Morocco, and the imperial capital, founded in the 12th century.

Gibraltar is a British overseas territory located on the southern end of the Iberian Peninsula and Europe at the entrance of the Mediterranean overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar. The territory covers 6.843 square kilometres (2.642sq mi) and shares a land border with Spain to the north. Gibraltar has historically been an important base for the British Armed Forces and is the site of a Royal Navy base.

Gibraltar is one of the most densely populated territories in the world, with a population of 29,286 estimated in 2008, approximately 4,290 inhabitants per square kilometre (11,100/sq mi). The growing demand for space is being increasingly met by land reclamation; reclaimed land currently comprises approximately one tenth of the territory’s total area.

The official currency of Gibraltar is the Gibraltar Pound.

We depart from the quayside and begin our tour by making our way past the British/Spanish land frontier.

Gibraltar’s purpose-built cable car is one of the best ways to appreciate the great views of the city and its surroundings.

The rock of Gibraltar, overlooking the entrance to the Mediterranean and standing nearly 425 metres (1,400 feet) above sea level, is reputed to be one of the legendary Pillars of Hercules.

Departing the quayside, we travel along the highway until we reach Jerez de la Frontera, the fifth largest city in Andalucia, famous for sherry, horses and flamenco.

On this tour we venture inland to a survivor of the Middle Ages and one of the most unspoilt villages of Spain, Medina Sidona.

 Our tour begins with a panoramic drive of Lisbon city centre. We shall make a brief stop at the top of King Edward VII Park, from where we can enjoy a spectacular view of the city and harbour.

Following a short briefing at the quayside, we travel in our fully-equipped jeeps to Sintra, a popular old world village resort nestling in tree-clad hills, north of Lisbon.

Our tour today will allow us to explore one of Portugal’s smaller towns that has a certain timeless feel to it, as well as some of the natural beauty that can only be found outside of the city limits.

Following a scenic 75-minute drive through the Portuguese countryside, we arrive at the medieval town of Obidos for a unique experience to travel back in time.

Departing the quayside by coach, we will have a short sightseeing drive through the city of Lisbon, stopping at such highlights as the Belem area where we will have an outside explanation of the Jeronimos Monastery and the Monument of the Discoveries for a photo opportunity.

Leaving Lisbon through Monsanto Park, we travel to Sintra, a popular old world village resort nestling in tree-clad hills north of Lisbon.

Following our city tour, we shall proceed to the Gulbenkian Museum, home to many different pieces of Ancient Oriental, Greco-Roman, Classical and European art.
