Leaving the South Mall – one of the most gracious streets in the city – we will cross Parnell Bridge, where we shall stop briefly and enjoy the view. We can see City Hall, elegant in its classical lines and its glistening limestone, the fluted columns of the Savings Bank, the modern lines of the College of Commerce and Morrison’s Island.

Departing from Cobh, we will travel westwards towards Killarney. Leaving Cork City behind, we pass through the busy market town of Macroom, the largest town in the Lee Valley and the economic centre of mid Cork. Admiral Sir William Penn, whose son founded Pennsylvania, once owned Macroom Castle, which dominates the centre of the town.

Tipperary is renowned for its rich pasturelands, and boasts the best Irish dairy products on the island. Rich in ancient heritage, it was once the home to Ireland’s High Kings.
