Hadeland Glassworks started production in 1762 and is wonderfully situated near Lake Randsfjord. Arriving at Hadeland we will have a guided tour of the factory, where we can see glass being hand blown. We may choose to purchase a beautiful piece as a souvenir.

After a safety briefing with our professional guide, we set out for our RIB adventure. We will be taken on an unforgettable expedition in a secure and rigid inflatable boat (RIB) into the lovely fjord landscape.

We begin our tour with a short coach transfer from the pier to the starting point of the walk – the town’s major landmark, Halmstad Castle. In the early 17th century, the Danish King Christian IV ordered Halmstad Castle to be built. Next to the castle is the training ship Najaden – one of the smallest full riggers in the world.

The highlight of this tour will be the Mjellby Art Museum which specialises in both contemporary and modern art.

Travelling through the centre of Halmstad we continue out into the countryside and coastal route.

The Catherine Palace ranks high on the list of the world’s most beautiful buildings. Our tour will combine this Palace with the Cathedrals of St Peter & St Paul, and St Isaacs.

A short transfer will take us to the Cathedral of Resurrection on Spilled Blood – one of the most noted landmarks of St Petersburg. For many years this splendid Cathedral was closed to the public but opened again in the late 1990’s as a museum, after a 25 year renovation.

A visit to St Petersburg is always a rewarding and unforgettable experience. By European standards it is a young city – in 2003, St Petersburg celebrated the 300th anniversary of its foundation – yet wherever we look there are reminders of an eventful history.

This evening of ballet is an opportunity to experience an exciting performance at one of the leading centres of art. Dancers from one of the St Petersburg companies are invited to perform on stage for our special enjoyment.
