We will depart from Malaga’s pier and after crossing the city we will continue towards Mijas, driving through pine-clad hills to this picturesque village in the foothills of the sierra. Mijas is a typical village of Southern Spain with narrow streets and wonderful views overlooking the coast.

Travelling to the southern part of the island, our first visit is to Qrendi, where we find the Hagar Qim Temples, likened to Stonehenge and originally built about 2700 BC. The site of these temples – high above the sea – was chosen well.

Porto Empedocle is the port of Agrigento, a Greek colony since the birth in 581B.C. It was destroyed by the Carthaginians and rebuilt in the 3rd century B.C by the Romans.

Leaving the port of Chios behind we will travel to the medieval Mesta, a beautiful preserved 14th century fortified village. Here we will visit both the old and new churches of Taxiarches before having some free time to wonder through the village’s warren of narrow streets.

From the quayside we take a short coach transfer to the Marina Bay, to join our boat. Onboard we commence a pleasant voyage within the calm waters of the Bay of Gibraltar. The craft glides effortlessly across the bay.

The rock of Gibraltar, overlooking the entrance to the Mediterranean and nearly 425 metres (1,400 feet) above sea level, is reputed to be one of the legendary Pillars of Hercules. With its policemen, pillar-boxes and pubs, the Rock is still staunchly British.
