Our tour begins with a transfer to the River Liffey upon which Dublin was built. Here we shall board our boat for a gentle and relaxing cruise along the river, whilst listening to the Story of Dublin;

Leaving the harbour we shall follow the coastline before heading inland to arrive at the city’s municipal conservation area of Heidmörk. The surrounding lava fields, craters and imposing mountain ranges bear witness to the country’s fiery origins.

In 4x4 vehicles, especially modified for the purpose of traversing Iceland’s varied terrain, we travel over the lava plateau Hellisheidi and proceed via the southern coastal lowlands, to the greenhouse village Hveragerdi.

Our tour will visit Tinganes, which is the historic part of Tórshavn, for a walk of approximately one hour. It is largely preserved to the present day, and is one of the few existing medieval towns with timber built houses.

Travelling up the scenic ridge top road that runs along the southern part of the island of Streymoy, we pause for photos at a viewpoint overlooking the colourful capital city. In the green sheep pastures above Tórshavn we should look out for stone cairns which marked the footpaths between villages in olden days.
