Our tour will begin with a drive by some of the city’s most famous landmarks. As we approach the downtown area, we will watch for the Los Angeles Coliseum, site of the 1932 and 1984 Olympics, the museum of Natural History which displays everything from exotic mammals to minerals and gemstones. We will pass the University of Southern California, the oldest non-secular university on the West coast (1880), the shrine Auditorium; home to Oscars, Grammy and Music Awards, and the Staples Centre; the newest addition in this area, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kings, concerts and other events.

Our tour will begin with a magnificent view of the Port of Los Angeles, the port of Long Beach and the greater Los Angeles greater area as we cross the Vincent Thomas Bridge; the third largest suspension bridge in California. Together, both ports rank among the busiest and the world’s largest man-made harbour (43 miles of waterfront). In the 1950’s this area was known to have the largest oil fields before the discovery of oil in Saudi Arabia. As we cross over the second bridge (Desmond Bridge) the skyline of Long Beach and a view of the Queen Mary will emerge.

These world famous tees are amongst the tallest and oldest in existence. The nature trail at Muir Woods will lead us into the heart of the Cathedral-like grove of trees – we will be able to take a moment to enjoy the serenity of this majestic setting whilst learning about the fascinating history of the giant redwoods.
