RHODES, GREECE
The Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem fortified the island of Rhodes in the 14th century. Gazing at Rhodes own from our ship’s deck, we can admire the wonderful range of walls, towers and turreted gateways, and the imposing Palace of the Grand Masters, which dominates the view.
MARMARIS, TURKEY
We will begin this tour right from the side of our ship. After a short briefing from the guides we will board our jeeps together with a guide and we will leave in convoy. Driving along the pine forest in the direction of Apiran Village we will be climbing to approximately 500 metres above sea level on Kizil Mountain.
MARMARIS, TURKEY
The history of steam baths goes back to the millennia. Many of the natural spas in Turkey were enjoyed by ancient civilisations. Seljuk and Ottoman Turks built elaborate baths to serve their communities. On this tour we will experience a true Turkish tradition.
MARMARIS, TURKEY
We leave our ship for a drive of approximately 90 minutes to the village of Dalyan – a conservation area since the discovery of the endangered loggerhead turtles, which has allowed the village to retain its natural charm and beauty.
VALLETTA, MALTA
Travelling to the southern part of the island, our first visit is to Qrendi, where we find the Hagar Qim Temples, likened to Stonehenge and originally built about 2700 BC. The site of these temples – high above the sea – was chosen well.
VALLETTA, MALTA
To embark the boat for this excursion we will travel to Silema. Onboard we will witness Malta’s living past from the water as we ply around the two natural harbours on either side of Valletta – Marsamxett Harbour and the Grand Harbour.
VALLETTA, MALTA
Our coach will depart from the harbour and will make our way to Mosta (meaning centre), which refers to its very location at the heart of the island. Here we will stop to see the famous dome, considered to be the third largest in Europe.
CIVITAVECCHIA, ITALY
For those who have visited Rome before or just prefer to do their own things, this tour is perfect. A transfer from Civitavecchia to Rome, taking approximately 90 minutes, gets us to the centre of the city.
CIVITAVECCHIA, ITALY
For those of us who would like to visit Rome but are worried about the amount of walking involved, this is the tour we should choose.
CIVITAVECCHIA, ITALY
For those who wish to spend one day in Rome, this tour gives the opportunity to see and explore what are considered to be the major sights in this wonderful city. Departing from the quayside by coach, we go by the motorway directly to the centre of Rome.
RHODES, GREECE
When the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem came to the island of Rhodes, they found the ancient Acropolis beautifully situated among two bays with crystal-clear water, above the picturesque village of Lindos.
PIRAEUS, GREECE
From the port of Piraeus we follow the western coastline of Attica, along the Saronic Gulf to the Corinth Canal, where a short stop is made to view the construction of this unique four-mile (six kilometre) long canal.
PIRAEUS, GREECE
Departing from Piraeus by coach we will follow the new coastal road to Sounion, passing beautiful beaches and attractive coves, and enjoying magnificent views over the Saronic Gulf.
PIRAEUS, GREECE
From the port of Piraeus we pass the charming yacht harbour of Zea, with visible foundations from the 5th century. Next is the attractive Mikrolimanon’s waterfront lined with inviting al fresco fish restaurants. It is a short drive into cosmopolitan Athens.
HERAKLION, GREECE
From the pier we drive eastwards to reach the Greek Orthodox Monastery of St George Selinaris, to see its tiny church and baptistery.
HERAKLION, GREECE
Crete is an island of contrasts; cosmopolitan and perhaps overdeveloped in some areas, but rough and unspoiled in others. Visitors to this island, Greece’s biggest, may find jagged mountains, harsh and barren lands, lush wooded hills, fertile plateaus and broad sandy beaches.
HERAKLION, CRETE
We depart from the pier and set course for the famous Minoan Palace of Knossos. Recreated by, Sir Arthur Evans (who conducted systematic excavations), Knossos represents a culture dating back over 4,000 years.
VALLETTA, MALTA
We leave the quayside by coach for a panoramic drive around the bastions of Valletta that house most of Malta’s rich heritage of history, art, archaeology, architecture and culture. We will also pass by Fort St Elmo, the historic fort at the tip of the Valletta peninsula.
VALETTA, MALTA
We travel onto Marsaxlokk, one of Malta’s largest fishing villages. Where we shall have some free time to explore this picturesque village, before we rejoin our coach to drive through some typical tiny Maltese villages, on our way to the Blue Grotto at Wied iz-Zurrieq.
