Driving in a south westerly direction from Cagliari, our coach will pass St Gill’s Lagoon – where, if we are lucky, we may see pink flamingos. Our route continues amongst olive groves and we will spot, in the distance, one of the biggest refineries in the Mediterranean, belonging to the township of Sarroch.

Catania, Sicily’s second largest city, which sits at the foot of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano. We will begin our tour by discovering the splendid Baroque City, re-built after the earthquake of 1693.

As we leave our ship we will enjoy a scenic tour of Cagliari. Travelling along the main streets of the town, we reach the Basilica of Bonaria, which stands against the old church in Aragonese-Gothic style; from here we can admire a complete view over the Gulf of Cagliari.

Departing from the quayside, we shall board our awaiting coach and drive to Pile Gate, the starting point for our guided walking tour of the Old Town and it’s treasures.

Leaving the port by coach, we will enjoy the short journey to Cavtat, in the south, stopping en route at two panoramic viewpoints for breathtaking views of Dubrovnik.

From the port we drive along the coastal road for approximately 15 kilometres (nine miles) to reach Trsteno. Here we will take a walk through the oldest and finest botanical gardens in Croatia, established by the Gozza-Gučetić family in the 16th century, containing an array of exotic plants and vegetation.

Leaving the port we drive to the newly built bridge across the Dubrovnik River, to our first panoramic stop, which will offer us a spectacular view of the picturesque Lapad peninsula, the commercial port of Gruž and the Elaphite archipelago.
