      Since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and the reunification of Germany, sites associated with the 40-year long Cold War and the division of the country into West and East Germany have become relics. One example of East Germany’s preparation for the so-called Third World War was the construction of highly specialised military bunkers.

      The Marine Science Centre is the world’s leading scientific capacity in marine orientation and underwater sense perception and operates the world’s largest seal basin (8,000 cubic metres).       Situated on the banks of the Daugava River, Riga was once one of the most important Hanseatic cities. Until 1856, fortification walls and earthen ramparts surrounded it.       Our wildlife adventure begins in the Viru Bog – an approximate three kilometre square area of peat bog, formed over a period of 10,000 years from decaying moss.
