This tour takes us to the north west of Mull, with gently undulating countryside, providing some of the most beguiling scenery on the island.

Our tour will set out from the colourful little picture postcard town of Tobermory. Heading south towards Torosay Castle, the drive is breathtaking as we skirt the east coast of Mull with views across the Sound of Mull to the Morvern Peninsula.

When The Queen Mother first saw it, the Castle of Mey was in a poor state of repair. Recently widowed and looking for somewhere to escape from the public eye, she vowed to save the castle from destruction. This she did, and in the process created a much-loved holiday home to which she returned every summer for the rest of her life.

Leaving the main roads behind, we shall travel across the open countryside and into the beautiful Dedham Vale – Constable Country, where the great landscape painter John Constable was born in 1776.

Duxford is a world-renowned heritage complex with exhibits on aviation, historic aircraft, land warfare, modern history conservation, education and maritime events. It is also one of the largest aircraft restoration centres in the world and we can watch this important and skilled work in progress.
