We begin our tour by driving to the pretty village of Sidi Bou Saïd, a picturesque, whitewashed village perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. The town has attracted generations of European artists and writers, and is today appreciated as a type of living museum.
MALAGA, SPAIN
Malaga is the capital city of the Costa del Sol. Founded by the Phoenicians as a colony approximately 3,000 years ago, it has come under the rule of the Romans, Carthaginians and the Moors. With approximately 670,000 inhabitants, the city lives a ‘Janus-faced’ life as both a busy port and industrial centre for southern Spain.
LISBON, PORTUGAL
Our tour begins with a panoramic drive of Lisbon city centre. We shall make a brief stop at the top of King Edward VII Park, from where we can enjoy a spectacular view of the city and harbour. We then continue, passing by Pombal Square, the famous avenue of Liberty and, of course, Rossio – the very heart and meeting point of Lisbon.

From the pier we board a private motor launch to take us to the famous St Mark’s area, where a short walk will take us to St Mark’s Square, where our local guides await us. Here our tour of the fascinating city begins.
CATANIA, SICILY
Catania, Sicily’s second largest city, sits at the foot of Mount Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano. On our tour today, we will discover this splendid Baroque city, which was re-built after the earthquake of 1693.
CATANIA, ITALY
Mount Etna is Europe’s largest active volcano. It stands at approximately 3,329 metres (10,921 feet) high and its flanks are covered with scores of cones and craters.
CAGLIARI, SARDINIA
Departing the quayside, we drive in a south-westerly direction from Cagliari, passing St Gilla’s Lagoon, where if we are lucky we may see pink flamingos. Our route continues through olive groves, and in the distance we will spot one of the biggest refineries in the Mediterranean, belonging to the township of Sarroch.

Cagliari is the administrative capital of Sardinia, the seat of the council and regional government and also the main port and commercial and industrial centre of the island. It is a modern town that has nevertheless been able to preserve its historical roots. One of Cagliari’s main attractions is its panoramic position in amongst natural surroundings. To the south lies the great Golfo Degli Angeli (‘Gulf of the Angels’), while the lagoons of Santa Gilla and Molentagus now appear to be almost enclosed by the urban network of the town, with its wide suburban belt flights of flamingos, ducks and herons.
