Northern Europe Overview

Cityscapes, culture, shopping & breathtaking scenery: our Northern Europe cruises have it all

While nothing can surpass the awesome sight of the Norwegian Fjords or the Northern Lights, a Northern Europe cruise also offers an abundance of stunning cityscapes. For city lovers, our Northern Europe cruise highlights take in Oslo's National Gallery, the architectural splendours of Copenhagen, the museums of Helsinki and the baroque palaces of St Petersburg. Alternatively, take a shore tour from your cruise ship and just stroll through the delightful cobbled streets of Stockholm, the Hanseatic port of Riga or medieval alleyways of Tallinn. If you are after natural history, then a cruise holiday to the picturesque Lofoten Islands or Iceland's volcanos and waterfalls, not to mention a week cruising the fjords, should do the trick.

If it's Christmas shopping inspiration you need, join us on a Baltic cruise or German cruise to the Christmas Markets of Tallinn, St Peterbsurg or Hamburg. Whatever your reason for a holiday, a Northern European Cruise is a truly cultural experience set to the backdrop of some of the world’s most beautiful scenery. Northern Europe Climate

The varying average shows how different the climate can be on a Northern Europe cruise. It is much colder in the northeast, while summers are hottest in the southeast. In general Northern Europe experiences longer, colder winters and shorter, coolers summers than Southern Europe: worth bearing in mind when packing for your cruise holiday.

The effect of the Gulf Stream can also be an influence if you are taking a cruise holiday in Northern Europe. Much of Norway's coast lies in the Arctic region, most of which is covered with ice and snow in winter, however due to the Gulf Stream all of Norway's coast, even that part in the Arctic, remains free of ice and snow throughout the winter.
