Cross the Kennebecasis River on one of the few remaining cable ferries in New Brunswick, and travel through historic Kingston Corner, to Elmhurst Outdoors - a small family run maple sugar farm.

Join your guide for an enlightening walk through time to the present day maple sugar shack. Informative displays will take you back in time to the beginnings of maple sugaring by native North Americans, then onwards in history to the early settlers and from there to the mid-1900s and the present.

Following your guided tour you will return to the lodge for homemade pancakes, sausage, pure maple syrup and drinks. To round off a perfect day, you will be treated to the age old tradition of maple taffy on snow!

Trace over 400 years of the history of Canada’s oldest incorporated city. Pass prominent landmarks and historic buildings as you are introduced to the many fascinating personalities and events that made Saint John the greatest little city in the east!

Your first stop will be Woolastook Park which is a great place to survey the harbour and a very popular camping area. Next you will stop to view the famous Reversing Falls Rapids at Fallsview Park, quoted as the sight no one should miss on a visit to Saint John. From the bluffs, your guide will explain that twice daily the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy ride faster than the river can empty. When this happens, the mighty tides push the river water upstream, causing the rapids to run in the opposite direction and the Saint John River to flow backwards,

You will continue past Fort Howe, which sits atop a cliff and has fine views of the harbour below. You will have approximately 20 minutes in which to explore the Old City Market, browse the products and perhaps chat with the vendors, before reboarding your coach and returning to the ship.

Perched on the shores of the Bay of Fundy, and less than an hour away from Saint John, is the picturesque fishing village of St Martins – a beautiful window through which to take a peek at life in New Brunswick.

During the scenic drive, your local guide will entertain you with fascinating folklore about the village and tell of the thriving shipbuilding era of bygone days.

Upon arrival at St Martins you stop at the harbour to witness the effects of the extreme high and low tides of the Bay of Fundy. The area is a favourite with artists, with its lighthouse, lobster traps and fishing boats creating a charming scene. If the weather permits, a variety of local artisans may be located at the wharf, and you can chat to them and browse their handmade items for sale. Next you will visit the beach, where time and tides have carved echoing caves in the sandstone cliffs. A lunch of seafood chowder and non-alcoholic refreshments will be served in the vicinity.

The trolley will go back to the pier for anyone not wishing to stay at the market.
