Leaving the harbour, you will travel into the city centre to Kärnan (the keep) – the remains of a 14th century battlement. Here, you will enjoy a panoramic view of Helsingborg and, across the sound, Denmark. From Stortorget (the main square) and its prominent neo-Gothic Town Hall, you will pass by the half-timbered Jacob Hansen’s House, dating from 1641, before driving North along the coast to Sofiero, for your next stop, which was formerly the summer residence of the late King. This stately manor house is known especially for its grounds, and its rhododendrons.

On your return to the city centre, travel through the nature reserve of Pålsjö Forest, before proceeding south. Pass by the Ramlösa Spring; dating from the early 1700’s, it is set in a lovely, natural, landscaped ravine. Continuing, you soon arrive to the village of Råå, at one time an important fishing community but now also a colourful marina. Discover the historic city of Elsinore, which is renowned for Kronborg Castle. The City of Elsinore - or Helsingör as the Danes call it – received its charter from the Danish king, Erik of Pomerania in 1426. He introduced the famous, and hated, Sound Dues – a fee to the Danish Crown paid by ships passing through the Sound. He built Kronborg Castle at the narrowest point of the Sound to assure a trouble free and efficient collection of the Dues.

Arriving at historic Elsinore, after a short ferry ride across the water between Sweden and Denmark, you will continue with a visit to Kronborg Castle - the setting, it is said, of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Viewed from the outside, the mixture of elegant royal castle and brutal military fortress is imposing. Inside it is a testimony to the art, design, royal values and way of life prevalent during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. If time permits you can visit the Chapel – the sole remnant of the 16th century Castle, which gives an impression of the original splendour of the rest of the interior, and the Knights’ Hall.

Next, enjoy a walk with your guide through the city of Elsinore and witness that much has been done to preserve the old character of the charming city.

Returning to Sweden by ferry, you will enjoy a short panoramic tour of Helsingborg. As you pass through the city centre, you can admire its landmark, The Keep (Kärnan) - remains of a battlement from the 14th century - the main square (Stortorget) and its prominent neo-Gothic Town Hall en route back to your awaiting ship.
