Introduction to Cruising Lichtenau Fjord
The beautiful Lichtenau Fjord is one of Greenland’s most historic and picturesque fjords, boasting an abundance of stunning and interesting sights.
On either side of the fjord lie two of Greenland’s oldest and most important settlements. As you glide along the arctic waters you’ll spot the historic ruins of Alluitsoq – formerly the island’s largest permanent settlement – and the charming traditional buildings of Ammassivik. At the far end, Lichtenau Fjord branches off into two separate waterways, one of which is home to Greenland’s largest waterfall - the breathtaking Qorlortorsuaq.
