One of Cagliari’s main attractions is its panoramic position amongst natural surroundings. To the south lies the great Golfo Degli Angel, while the lagoons of Santa Gilla and Molentagus now appear to be almost enclosed by the urban network of the town, with its wide suburban belt. Enjoy a tour of the city along with an interesting visit to the National Archaeological Museum.

Your tour begins with a stop in front of the Basilica of Bonaria, which stands against the old church in Aragonese Gothic style. From here, you can admire a complete view over the Gulf of Cagliari. You then continue along the beach of Poetto, a sandy beach which stretches for more than six miles. On its southwestern limit is the characteristic rocky formation known as Stella del Diavolo (Devil’s Saddle). The salt pools in the area are an extraordinary scarlet colour during the period of maximum water evaporation, and in the winter they attract a large number of birds – particularly pink flamingos.

From Poetto, proceed to Monte Urpino for a brief photo stop, before continuing to the old part of Cagliari, where you commence your walking tour. Visit the Cathedral, which dates back to the Romanesque period, before stopping at the National Archaeological Museum, which contains exhibits recalling the other two civilisations that had a profound influence – Phoenicia-Carthage and Rome.

See the beauty of Sardinia and spend your time sampling the wine and charms of island life.

You then proceed to Monte Urpino for another opportunity to get your camera out at this beautiful viewpoint before reaching Serdiana where you will visit Cantine Argiolas for your wine tasting experience.

The history of Cantine Argiolas began in 1918, when Francesco Argiolas planted the first vineyard with the assistance of some war prisoners. It was only with Antonio Argiolas, today 97 years old, that a new way of running the business began. A man of great enthusiasm and long experience in viticulture, he brought new estates - not only vineyards but also olive groves - with the aim of setting up a new, modern farm. He succeeded. Now three generations of the family are present together; the patriarch Antonio, his two sons and his grandchildren.

Awaken your senses with a wine tasting session and sample a medley of some delicious Sardinian cheese, salami, olives and bread.
