Wonders of Greenland, Iceland & Norway
Black Watch • W1816 • Prices from £2,099.00 (cruise only)
Take advantage of Black Watch’s smaller size and uncover the wonders of remote regions in Greenland, Iceland and Norway. Awe-inspiring scenery, spectacular natural attractions and a host of incredible experiences; this unforgettable fortnight of exploration has it all.
A three night sail from Liverpool to Iceland will allow you time to become acquainted with your ship and fellow guests before calling into Reykjavik, the first port of call. Some of Iceland’s greatest and most famous natural wonders are within reach of the capital, including those found within the ‘Golden Circle’. Make the most of your day here to take in the ‘Big Three’ – the Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir Hot Springs, and Thingvellir National Park; or perhaps visit the Blue Lagoon and bathe in the geothermal waters. Before continuing your Icelandic adventure Black Watch will divert to Greenland and Tasiilaq. The mountains and icebergs surrounding this tiny town create unmissable views to enjoy from the ship’s deck as you arrive here. Once ashore, you could see the colourful houses in the town centre; or opt to tour to the Flower Valley to admire the impressive Kiattut Glacier and an array of Arctic flora.
Returning to Iceland, Akureyri is your gateway to the Godafoss ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ and tranquil Lake Mývatn – a haven for a number of bird species. For an experience you’ll never forget, be sure to join a whale watching tour to see Humpback and Minke Whales, dolphins and porpoises in their unspoilt natural habitat. Scenic cruising along Eyjafjörður – Iceland’s longest fjord – and past the peaceful island of Hrísey follows; then the following morning Black Watch will sail the Reyðarfjörður to Eskifjörður. Here you’ll be greeted by the sight of Mount Hólmatindur, one of the region’s most impressive and beautiful mountains. Finally you’ll experience the peace, tranquillity and incredible scenery that Norway is renowned for. Take in the views from atop Mount Aksla in Ålesund, or perhaps admire the town’s art-nouveau architecture; then visit the charming village of Olden. Tours to Kjenndalen and Briksdal glaciers are not to be missed before setting sail back along the Nordfjord as you head for home.
