Christmas Cruise

Celebrate the festive season with Fred. Olsen like never before on our first ever UK Christmas and New Year cruise, which circumnavigates the beautiful British Isles at the most wonderful time of the year.

After departing from London Tilbury Black Watch will sail along the England's pretty south coast en route to Ireland, calling into two historic maritime cities along the way. Over 800 years of seafaring heritage can be explored at the Historic Dockyard in Portsmouth; while Plymouth is home to the world-famous Smeatons Tower and the Mayflower Steps, from where the Pilgrims set sail for North America in 1620. Christmas Day will be spent at sea, with all the festivites in full swing on board. Traditional food, fun and celebration can all be enjoyed with friends, family and fellow guests. Black Watch will call into Cobh on Boxing Day – celebrated locally as St. Stephen’s Day – where a few of the town's attractions will be open, before continuing onwards to Dublin. There will be time to pick-up a few bargains at the post-Christmas sales; enjoy a pint of Guinness or a glass of proper Irish whisky at the iconic Temple Bar district; and discover landmarks such as St Patrick's Cathedral during a full-day stay in Ireland's capital.

Another full-day in an enchanting capital follows, this time in Northern Ireland. Belfast is home to an abundance of attractions, including the fascinating Titanic Belfast experience, Grand Opera House, the historic steamship SS Nomadic and the Renaissance-style City Hall. Away from the city, the spectacular Giant's Causeway – Northern Ireland's only UNESCO-listed world heritage site – can be seen in all its natural wonder on an unforgettable shore tour. The final port of call is Leith, your gateway to Edinburgh during the Scottish capital’s annual Hogmanay celebrations. An extended stay means that this world-famous festive extravaganza can be experienced to the full; from witnessing the torch light procession at the start of the festival, to welcoming the arrival of 2017 with drinks, dancing and a rousing sing-a-long rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’. To cap the evening off in style, a breathtaking fireworks display will light up the midnight sky above the city's iconic castle – a simply unforgettable sight.
