The day of fun and festivities in Stavanger will be a wonderful start to this unique Norwegian adventure. Arriving early in the morning ensures you’ll have plenty of time to be part of the events and activities taking place across the city. You could grab a hot dog and an ice cream – the traditional culinary treats – then watch as the friendly locals march through the streets dressed in their finest ‘bunad’ clothing; take in a live performance from the local Storband in the market square; join the party at the concert house; and much more. An evening of scenic cruising through the incredible mountainous scenery of Lysefjord follows your day in Stavanger – the perfect way to relax after enjoying the excitement ashore.
In Ulvik, explore the glorious orchards and gardens or join a tour to the Hardanger Juice and Cider Factory to sample the finest local food and drink before taking in the inspirational scenery of Hardangerfjord. A day in Flåm, where you could ride the world-famous Flåmsbana Railway past mighty waterfalls such as the Tvinde and Kjosfossen, is followed by an utterly unforgettable glide along the narrow waters of Nærøyfjord. Embark on a trek through the breathtaking Briksdalen Valley from Olden to see the Briksdal Glacier up-close; and lookout for various species of seabird as you drift slowly by the soaring Hornelen cliff. Joining a kayaking trip in Geiranger is a great way to see the mighty mountains and waterfalls of the Geirangerfjord from a different perspective before cruising along the UNESCO-listed waterway on board Balmoral. Beautiful Bergen – home of the historic Bryggen Wharf and Mount Fløyen – is your final port of call.
