Scenic Fjords of Norway
Balmoral • L1810 • Prices from £1,099.00 (cruise only)
Experience some of the most spellbinding scenery that Norway has to offer as Balmoral heads deep into a collection of breathtaking, world-renowned waterways and visits four beautiful fjordland destinations on this stunning, seven night sailing.
Where better to start your exploration of the scenic fjords than Lysefjord; where the sight of simply stunning mountains, dramatic cliffs and iconic landmarks such as the Pulpit Rock will provide the perfect introduction to the region. Then in Bergen you’ll discover a plethora of highlights ashore, from the UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf and the bustling fish market, to the interesting Troldhaugen Museum. Don’t miss the chance to climb Mount Fløyen via the Funicular Railway for incredible views of the city. Another memorable railway adventure awaits you during a call into Flåm, from where you can embark on a scenic train journey high into the mountains and marvel at the cascading Kjosfossen Waterfall. There are astonishing views of Aurlandsfjord’s awe-inspiring scenery to take in from Stegastein Lookout – found 650 metres above the fjord’s glassy waters – too, before embarking Balmoral once again for an unforgettable diversion into Nærøyfjord, one of National Geographic’s top two Natural World Heritage Sites.
Up next is Olden, a pretty village tucked away at the very farthest reaches of Nordfjord. Surrounded by soaring mountains, dramatic cliffs and lush meadows, Olden is a delightful place to enjoy a relaxing stroll. It’s also your gateway to stunning natural wonders such as the Briksdal Glacier – an arm of Europe’s largest inland glacier, Jostedalsbreen – and the beautiful Lovatnet Lake. Scenic cruising of the captivating Nordfjord and a glide by Hornelen – Europe’s highest sea cliff – follows, as your ship sails overnight to Hellesylt. A short stop will afford you time to discover the striking Hellesylt Waterfall, Tystigen Glacier and Hornindalsvatnet – Europe’s deepest lake – before your time in the fjordland concludes with yet more scenic cruising. Have your camera to hand to capture the unspoilt landscapes of Geirangerfjord – another of National Geographic’s top two Natural World Heritage Sites – and the glorious Seven Sisters Waterfall; the picturesque Sunnylvsfjord and Storfjord, home of the magnificent Strandafjellet Mountain; and rugged Hjørundfjord, which features on a Fred. Olsen itinerary for the first time.

On Our Ship
Balmoral is the largest of Fred. Olsen's smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships – with capacity for up to 1350 guests – yet is still small enough to navigate narrow waterways such as Kiel Canal and bring inspirational sights and experiences closer to you. Like the rest of the fleet, Balmoral retains a warm, welcoming atmosphere and features comfortable accommodation and lounges, stylish restaurants and plenty of open-deck space.
