Scenic Fjords & Waterfalls of Norway
Braemar • M1812 • Prices from £949.00 (cruise only)
A stop in Stavanger will present you with the opportunity to take a scenic boat tour to stunning Lysefjord, where the glass-like waters, steep mountains and craggy cliffs will provide the perfect introduction to the astonishing Norwegian fjords. Alternatively you might prefer to stay in the city – a former European Capital of Culture – and take in attractions such as the historic Gamle Stavanger district; Norway’s fourth largest shopping mall; and the world’s only Canning Museum. Heading north, Bergen – another of the fjordland’s most interesting and vibrant cities – awaits your exploration next. From the UNESCO-listed, Hanseatic Bryggen Wharf and the bustling fish market, to the fascinating Troldhaugen Museum; there are a plethora of highlights to take in here. Not to be missed is the chance to ride the Funicular Railway to the Mount Fløyen viewpoint and marvel at the city’s scenic surroundings.
As well as beautiful cities, Braemar will also visit two charming villages tucked away deep within the fjords. After an early arrival into idyllic Flåm you’ll have a day to enjoy some of the very best, simply unforgettable experiences this astonishing part of the world has to offer. Perhaps you’ll opt to marvel at the awe-inspiring scenery surrounding Flåm from the Stegastein Lookout, which presents unspoilt views from 650 metres above Aurlandsfjord; or catch a ride on the iconic Flåmsbana Railway to see the cascading Kjosfossen Waterfall up-close. Scenic cruising of Sognefjord – Norway’s longest and deepest fjord – and size-restricted Nærøyfjord follows, before Braemar stops at charming Olden, your final port of call and gateway to awe-inspiring natural wonders including the Briksdal Glacier and beautiful Lovatnet Lake. Yet more scenic cruising ensures a memorable end to your foray into the fjords, gliding along Åkrafjord past the Langfoss Waterfall, named one of the top ten waterfalls in the world by CNN; and sailing through the Karmsund Strait, another beautiful waterway out of reach to larger ships.
