Featuring calls into six stunning cities in five different countries, including three Scandinavian capitals and a spectacular Russian gem; scenic cruising of breathtaking waterways; and a host of memorable sights and experiences, this fantastic fortnight aboard Balmoral will be simply unforgettable from the moment you set sail.

After departing from Rosyth you’ll enjoy a relaxing sea day and take in views of gorgeous German countryside via the Kiel Canal before calling first into Copenhagen. The delights of the Danish capital will be within easy reach of your ship’s berth, including the famous Little Mermaid statue, the pretty Nyhavn waterfront district and the impressive Christiansborg and Amalienborg palaces. The following morning it’s on to Estonia and the fairytale-esque capital, Tallinn. The enchanting cobbled streets and stunning architectural delights here – including the medieval structures of the UNESCO-listed Old Town and the striking Alexander Nevsky Cathedral – are sure to whet your appetite for the wonders awaiting you in the next stop on this incredible itinerary, St Petersburg. This awe-inspiring Russian city is a veritable treasure trove of iconic landmarks, and an overnight stay will afford you time to explore to full. The Hermitage Museum, Peterhof Palace, elaborate Church on the Spilled Blood, and the magnificent Catherine Palace are all not-to-be-missed; while you’ll also have the opportunity to spend a magical evening at the world-famous Russian ballet too.

Four fantastic days in Sweden will begin with a scenic cruise of the Stockholm Archipelago, passing between a collection of nearly 30,000 rocky islands and islets en route to the capital, Stockholm. Here you could explore the historic Gamla Stan district and witness the changing of the guard at the magnificent Royal Palace; visit a number of interesting museums including the Skansen Open-air Museum and ABBA: The Museum; and even enjoy a drink with a difference at the unique Ice Bar. Another epic journey through the Stockholm Archipelago is followed by a call into Gothenburg, offering you an opportunity to take in the sights of Sweden’s second city on a boat tour of the 17th century canals. Visiting Oslo – the capital of Norway, Fred. Olsen’s homeland – will be a fitting finalé to your adventure. Artistic and aesthetic attractions seem to appear with every turn here; particular highlights include the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Polar Ship Museum, the Akershus Fortress and the National Gallery, home of Edvard Munch’s The Scream. Alternatively you can head take a tour to explore the dense forests and lush green valleys surrounding the city before enjoying a scenic cruise of the Oslofjord as you head for home.

On Our Ship

Balmoral is the largest of Fred. Olsen's smaller, friendly ocean-going cruise ships – with capacity for up to 1350 guests – yet is still small enough to navigate narrow waterways such as Kiel Canal and bring inspirational sights and experiences closer to you. Like the rest of the fleet, Balmoral retains a warm, welcoming atmosphere and features comfortable accommodation and lounges, stylish restaurants and plenty of open-deck space.
