Bask in the sun-kissed beauty of stunning isolated islands; encounter fascinating wildlife and breathtaking natural wonders; and visit exuberant capital cities, all on one epic adult only cruise along the west coast of Africa aboard Boudicca.

Cape Town – one of three stunning South African capitals – is the perfect place to start this unforgettable three week voyage; with an evening and full day to take in the highlights before you set sail. From the incredible scenery at Cape Point and the penguins at Boulders Beach, to iconic landmarks such as Table Mountain and Signal Hill, there’s much to see in the magnificent ‘Mother City’. In contrast to bustling Cape Town, the charming Namibian town of Lüderitz – sandwiched between the dusty Namib wilderness and the South Atlantic Coast – feels lost in times past. Here you could take a short trip to the nearby ‘ghost town’ of Kolmanskop and explore the eerie abandoned village; or tour to the Garub waterhole to witness the native flora and fauna of the Namib Desert, including wild horses and springboks. The colossal sand dunes and arid landscapes of the Namib can also be discovered on tour from Walvis Bay. Alternatively you could visit Walvis Bay’s beautiful natural lagoon, a haven for diverse wildlife such as pink flamingos, sea birds and even bottle-nosed dolphins.

Two remote, rarely-visited British islands in the South Atlantic await you next. On the secluded volcanic island of St Helena, you have the chance to explore the island’s historic ties to Napoleon; capture astonishing views from Ladder Hill; and even meet the island’s oldest and most famous inhabitant, Jonathan the Tortoise. Then it’s on to Ascension Island to unearth a host of natural delights, from the verdant Green Mountain to quiet beaches where turtles can often be seen nesting on the soft sands. Back on the African mainland, Dakar – Senegal’s energetic capital – is the next stop on your itinerary. Venture to UNESCO-listed Gorée and unearth the island’s haunting slave-trade past; or perhaps marvel at a curiosity of nature on a tour to Lake Retba. Aptly named ‘the pink lake’ due the water’s unusual colour, Retba is simply a ‘must-see’. Finally Boudicca heads for Macaronesia, where three gorgeous islands are yours to explore. You’ll discover diverse landscapes, colonial monuments, and interesting museums in Cape Verde during calls into Praia and Mindelo; before having two days to unwind in Tenerife, home to soaring Mount Teide and vast stretches of glorious golden sand beaches.

Loacted in Cape Verde, the volcanic archipelago of ten islands and five islets is a hidden gem. This destination was a Portuguese territory until independence in 1975, and is as unique and unspoilt as its remote location, 400 miles off the west coast of Senegal, would suggest.
