Islands of the Mediterranean
Balmoral • L1904 • Prices from £1,999.00 (cruise only)
Experience an unforgettable springtime exploration of the sun-kissed Mediterranean and discover the delights of a string of gorgeous Spanish, Italian and French islands. In just over two weeks you will take in some of the most charming towns and cities, inviting beaches and spectacular scenery this stunning region has to offer, and all while enjoying the warm, friendly atmosphere on board Balmoral.
Five fabulous islands feature on this incredible itinerary in total, including three of Spain’s beautiful Balearic Islands. A day in Ibiza will afford you plenty of time to discover that is there is much more to this popular ‘Party Island’ than the renowned nightlife enjoyed by so many here. The UNESCO-listed Old Town of Dalt Vila, the famous salt flats of Las Salinas and much more are sure to catch your attention. Many Menorcan highlights await your discovery too, during a call into Mahon. Perhaps you will opt to go in search of Menorca’s glorious beaches and Monte Toro, the island’s highest peak; visit the gin distillery; or even explore unspoilt countryside on horseback. On the pretty island of Mallorca, Palma is a joy to explore with its labyrinth of historic streets and captivating architecture. You could choose to stay here and marvel at the city’s sights, such as the Gaudi-crafted Gothic-style cathedral; or embark on a scenic train journey to nearby Soller.
The French island of Corsica never fails to impress, with its breathtaking coastlines and lush countryside smothered with dense forests, towering mountains and winding rivers. Here Balmoral will dock at Ajaccio, your gateway to the dramatic gorges of Prunelli, where magnificent granite cliffs plunge into the Prunelli River. Your ship will also sail to the Italian island of Sardinia, where the soft white sand beaches and historic attractions of Olbia, the unusual landscapes of Moon Valley and the glamourous Costa Smeralda resort await. This special 17-night sailing presents chances to explore some of the Spanish and Portuguese mainland’s finest cities too. In Spain, Málaga, Cartagena and Cádiz offer up tours to grand palaces, an ancient Roman amphitheatre and fantastic tapas bars; while in Portugal, Lisbon – the picturesque capital – boasts plenty of attractions, from architectural treasures to the Iberian peninsula’s largest shopping mall.
