Embark on an unforgettable exploration of the Arctic on board Black Watch, taking in beautiful fjords and remote settlements, unmolested scenery and picturesque islands. Fascinating wildlife, breathtaking natural wonders and once-in-a-lifetime experiences all await you on one very special 27-night sailing.
Spending just over a week in Norway, you’ll journey along some of the world’s greatest waterways and explore astonishing untouched landscapes from incredible ports of call. Visit Bergen – home of the historic, UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf – and Skjolden, which is perfectly placed for tours to the Jotunheimen Mountain and the Jostedalsbreen Glacier; and glide along the glassy waters of Lustrafjord, Sognefjord and Nærøyfjord. Black Watch will also call into Olden, situated close to the magnificent Briksdal Glacier. Venturing into Arctic Norway, you’ll cross the Arctic Circle; cruise by the beautiful Black Glacier; dock in Tromsø, the gateway to the Arctic and majestic Mount Storsteinen; and visit Honnigsvag for tours to the North Cape. In the Svalbard archipelago you can explore the eerie Soviet settlement of Pyramiden, and experience the magical midnight sun during an overnight stay in Longyearbyen.
In Iceland, spot thousands of seabirds as you cruise by the islands of Jan Mayen, Grimsey and Hrisey; enjoy a relaxing glide along Eyjafjörður en route to Akureryi, where you can join tours to the magnificent Godafoss ‘Waterfall of the Gods’; and see the intriguing Dinosaur Rock up-close. A call into Reykjavik allows you time to discover the Blue Lagoon Spa, Geysir Hot Springs, Gullfoss Waterfall and other highlights of the ‘Golden Circle’. You’ll also cruise the icy waters of Prins Christiansund, Tunugdlliarfik fjord and Tasermuit fjord in Greenland; and visit Narsarsuaq and Nanortalik to see snow-capped mountains and wander through pretty towns. This amazing adventure will then come to an end in the Faroe Islands, calling into Torshavn – the charming capital – and cruising by tiny settlements such as Mykines and Hestur Island, where a plethora of nesting seabirds can be seen perched along the shores.
