Meet Braemar in Barbados and set sail on a fantastic 16-night cruise, calling into a string of beautiful destinations in early spring. Explore wonderful West Indian islands then embark on a relaxing transatlantic adventure, crossing the Tropic of Cancer and visiting the Azores as you head for home.

Your fortnight of relaxation begins in Barbados’ beautiful capital, Bridgetown. Take a trip to the crystallised limestone cavern of Harrison’s Cave; capture the perfect photograph of paradise; or simply enjoy the balmy climate on a choice of over 70 breathtaking beaches. Calling into Castries next, see St. Lucia’s flourishing rainforest from a difference perspective on an exhilarating aerial tram ride; and admire the diverse flora of the delightful Diamond Botanical Gardens. In St. John’s, Antigua, yet more memorable experiences await you. Discover amazing views from the English Harbour; delve into the history of Nelson’s Dockyard; and enjoy the sunshine with 365 beaches at your disposal. The opportunity to swim with graceful stingrays in the calm, warm waters of Barge Reef is one that’s not-to-be-missed.

Your final call in the Caribbean is Basseterre. No day here is complete without enjoying a ride on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most picturesque train journeys in the world. Alternatively, you could while away a few hours wandering between the historic buildings in the island’s capital; and take in the views from the UNESCO-listed Brimstone Hill Fortress before setting sail across the Atlantic. En route to Dover you will cross the Tropic of Cancer and head to the Azores for a full-day in Ponta Delgada. Spend the day discovering the mountains, valleys and astonishing crater lakes of Sao Miguel Island, then enjoy a relaxing evening by the water in pretty waterside cafes and restaurants – the perfect end to your holiday.

Single supplement offers are available on selected grades on this sailing, please call for details.

Crossing the Tropic of Cancer

The Tropic of Cancer is also known as the Northern Tropic, is where the sun is directly overhead at noon-time, marking the beginning of summer in the northern hemisphere. This and the Tropic of Capricorn were so named as the sun was in the constellation of Cancer and Capricron respectively, when they were named 2,000 years ago.

PONTA DELGADA - INFORMATION

Since their discovery in the early 15th century, the Portuguese Azores have played an important part in oceanic navigation. They were a logistical point for the discovery of new worlds, a port of call for ships engaged in trade between Europe, America and India, and a place to lay anchor for the galleons bringing the wealth of the Americas back to the Old World.
