Cruise highlights: Join Boudicca for a stunning cruise to see the Solar Eclipse in all it’s glory in the spring of 2015. With a wide variety of optional cruise tours available, you will be able to tailor your cruise holiday to meet your personal interests, and giving you the best opportunity to see this fabulous total eclipse of the sun close to the Faroe Islands.

After departing from Southampton, your first port of call is Alesund in Norway. With turrets, spires and gargoyles atop Art Nouveau buildings, this coastal town is an astonishing visual experience. Don’t forget to take a trip to the viewpoint of Mount Aksla to gain a panoramic view of the spectacular scenery surrounding the town.

Not only will you see the Solar Eclipse on this exciting cruise, but with an overnight stay in Tromso, known as the Gateway to the Arctic, you will have the best chance to experience the magnificent Northern Lights. These stunning light shows will take centre stage, with you in the front row, although be patient as you’re in the hands of Mother Nature. Other interesting points of interest in Tromso include seeing how the indigenous Sami people live; or visiting the amazing Arctic Cathedral, shaped like an iceberg.

From here, you cruise on to Alta for another overnight stay, where it may also be possible to see the Northern Lights. The town itself has a number of interesting attractions, including the Ice Hotel, Alta Museum and close by is Maze, the world’s purest Sami village, where all but one family are Sami.

Leknes in the Lofoten Islands is next, where the combination of jagged peaks and white sandy beaches make it one of the most picturesque areas in Norway. A climb up out of the town will reward you with stunning views in each direction. The Viking Museum in the nearby village of Borg is worth a visit, as is the fishing village of Nusfjord.

After your solar eclipse experience (The Faroe Islands is one of only two places in the world where you will see a total eclipse) you stay in the Faroes, and visit Runavik. This quaint port is one of the most picturesque with stunning landscapes and peaceful villages. For art lovers, the Gallery Ribarhús is worth seeing, as it contains collections from local artists, but occasionally features exhibitions from more famous artists.

This is your final port on an unforgettable Solar Eclipse cruise, and you will then return home to Southampton, safe in the knowledge you have been on a very special cruise holiday.
