FRED. OLSEN ANNOUNCES FUEL SURCHARGE EFFECTIVE 10TH JUNE 2008

9 June 2008

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has announced that, due to the rising cost of fuel, it has become necessary to increase the current fuel surcharge on all new bookings for cruises departing up to and including 16 April 2009 made on or after 10th June 2008.   Bookings confirmed prior to that date will not be affected.

The supplement will be £5.00 per person per night for the first two occupants of a cabin, and £2.00 per person per night for the 3rd and 4th occupants of the cabin.   The supplement will be capped at a maximum of £90.00 per person per cruise.

“The global price of fuel has increased significantly and we have delayed implementing this increase for as long as we possibly can” said Mike Rodwell, managing director of  Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines.   “Because our programme from April 2009 onwards took into account the fuel cost at that time, we are able to maintain our published prices at present for those cruises” he continued.

Fred. Olsen operates a fleet of five ships:  Black Watch, Boudicca, Braemar, Black Prince and latest addition to the fleet, Balmoral.
