Here you will find all the information you need to know regarding the flights used in conjunction with our fly-cruises.
What is a fly-cruise?
A fly-cruise combines the convenience of air travel with all the benefits of a Fred. Olsen cruise holiday, offering you the chance to discover some of the world’s greatest destinations aboard our smaller, friendlier ships in less time than it would take on a cruise from the UK.
On a fly-cruise, you can head straight to the region you want to explore, without having to spend as much time at sea en route, and then join your ship for a memorable journey packed with ports, sights and experiences that are of interest to you.
Fly-Cruise packages & Cruise Only
We aim to make booking your fly-cruise holiday as easy as possible by taking away the hassle of researching and arranging your own flights and transfers and including them in the price of your fly-cruise. Your flight will take you to an airport close to the port where you ship is docked, and then you will be transferred, along with your luggage, to the ship.
When making your cruise booking, you will be able to select the airport you wish to fly from (subject to availability). We will advise you of your flight times closer to your departure date, once the airline(s) have made us aware of the timings. You can view these timings via your My Cruises account, or refer to your final cruise documents.
Flights and transfers are only included in our fly-cruise packages. If you choose to book ‘Cruise Only’, you will have to arrange flights and transfers yourself. This option gives you the freedom to select your own flight times and departure airport, and enjoy time to explore a destination before or after your cruise.
Are flights included in the price of a fly-cruise holiday?
Flights and transfers are only included in the price of your fly-cruise holiday if you book a fly-cruise package. Our fly-cruise packages take away the hassle of researching and arranging your own flights and transfers, as we will arrange these for you and include them as part of your holiday.
If you choose to book ‘Cruise Only’, you will have to arrange flights and transfers yourself. This option gives you the freedom to select your own flight times and departure airport, and enjoy time to explore a destination before or after you cruise.
Look for these options online when booking your fly-cruise, or call our experienced Reservations Team on 01473 746 175.
What is the luggage allowance on a fly-cruise?
The luggage allowance for a fly-cruise is subject to the conditions imposed by the airline(s) you are flying with and will vary from airline to airline. Full details of your luggage allowance are on your booking confirmation and your flight tickets. Please note that details are subject to change at any time.
What are the flight timings on your fly-cruises?
Generally, cruise holidays go on sale before airlines release details of their flight times. When booking your fly-cruise you will have the option to select the airport you wish to fly from (subject to availability). You will be advised of your flight times once we are made aware of them by the airline(s) you are flying with.
Please check your My Cruises online account closer to your departure date to find out your flight details. Alternatively you can refer to your final cruise documents.
Is there the option of arranging my own flights on a fly-cruise itinerary?
Yes, you can choose to arrange your own flights and transfers if you prefer not to book one of our fly-cruise packages. 'Cruise Only' is ideal if you wish to fly at a specific time and from a particular airport; or if you want to enjoy some time in a destination before or after your cruise.
Please contact our friendly Reservations Team on 01473 746 175 to find out more.
I have organised my own flights, what time do I need to disembark on my last day?
If you have chosen to organise your return flights yourself, you will be required to disembark your ship between 09:00hrs and 09:30hrs on the morning of the final day of your holiday. Please note that your disembarkation time can change, and at short notice, if authorities deem it necessary.
Do you provide transfers for guests who require a wheelchair?
If you are unable to board the vehicle used for transfers from the airport to the ship, and require use of private car hire, you will incur any extra costs involved.
What if I have special dietary or travel requirements?
If you have any special dietary needs that may affected you during air or cruise travel, it is important that you advise us of your specific requirements at the time of booking. Most diets, with the exception of Kosher, can be catered to by airlines.
You must also let us know, at the time of booking, if you require assistance at the airport. This will allow us to inform the airport authorities and the airline(s) you are flying with. This is particularly important if you are intending to travel in your own wheelchair.
