Tango is the soul of Argentina. Our history begins at the turn of the 19th century when the whole Rio de la Plata regions received great waves of immigrants in the growing ports of Buenos Aires and Montevideo. They were a mix of Italian, Spanish, East European and Jewish. Each had their own musical heritage: Candombe, African slave music and Milongas, which were the traditional gaucho music that somehow fused into tango. In the rough and tumble world of the mostly male immigrants men danced with each other. The most important gathering place was the brothel - while customers waited, musicians played and the men danced.
By the turn of the 20th century tango gradually moved from the poorest areas into the salons of the rich. Dancing became more stylised and the lyrics less bawdy.
Today, more than 100 years later, this same story, returns. In the most elegant place of the city of Buenos Aires, with its delicious gourmet gastronomy, Café de los Angelitos invites us to share a unique moment. Café de los Angelitos is located in the famous corner of Rivadavia and Rincón, and it is one of the most traditional coffee houses of Buenos Aires. Here we can enjoy a show and an a la carte lunch, which gives us a passionate and enthralling experience of the tango and illustrates a whole era in a luxurious and distinguished way.
TOUR NOTES: Includes all transfers as well as soft drinks and wines with lunch and show. The timings and itinerary are flexible according to the group needs, and to avoid having a large crowd, the buses will visit the areas in different order, ie. some will start with Recoleta and some with Plaza de Mayo. There are a total of 12 to 16 steps throughout the entire tour. The tour is suitable for guests with limited mobility and wheelchair users, providing guests can board the coach unaided.
