This short trip to Jostedalen takes us from Skjolden, along the fjord to Gaupne, then through the narrow Jostedalen valley and all the way up to the Nigardsbreen. We shall park close to the glacier, which means a fantastic view and great possibilities for photographs. The massive blue ice is viewed from across a small glacier lake.
We then visit Breheimsenteret, an information centre for the glacier and the Jostedalsbreen National Park. Here we will find interesting exhibitions about the glacier as well as a souvenir shop and a restaurant with a beautiful view of the glacier. Refreshments will be served in the restaurant.
We will then return to Skjolden and our awaiting ship.
TOUR NOTES: This tour involves a moderate amount of walking at the glacier viewing area and Glacier Centre. There is fairly level terrain to reach the Glacier Centre, which is suitable for wheelchair users. All participants must be able to board the coach unaided. It should be noted that we will view the glacier from the opposite side of the lake only and not actually reach it. Refreshments will be coffee and a waffle.
