Located at the mouth of the Aura River, Turku is the oldest city in Finland, founded in the 13th century.

The city really has a lot to offer, with an array of museums, and lively summers when the whole city seems to head for the small armada of boat bars moored in the heart of town. Each July a Medieval market is held, and on 24th December every year, 'Christmas Peace' is declared at the Cathedral of Turku, as the city is the country's official 'Christmas City'.

• Our boat will be waiting to take us on a journey from Turku and as we step aboard we will be welcomed by the captain and crew. Our journey will take us through the archipelago, which includes the Ruissalo summer cottage area with beautiful summer cottages, some of which were built in the late 19th century during the Russian era.

• We begin our tour from the port, where the River Aura meets the sea. We will travel by coach, taking approximately 15 minutes, to the site where the Castle of Turku was initially built in 1280.
