- Average temperature: 10º C - 21º C
The varying average shows how different the climates are in Northern Europe. It is much colder in the northeast, while summers are hottest in the southeast. In general Northern Europe experiences longer, colder winters and shorter, coolers summers than Southern Europe. The effect of the Gulf Stream can also be felt in Northern Europe. Much of Norway's coast lies in the Arctic region, most of which is covered with ice and snow in winter, however due to the Gulf Stream all of Norway's coast-even that part in the Arctic--remains free of ice and snow throughout the winter.
