Leaving our ship we will drive for approximately 45 minutes, across the area of Denmark known as Zealand, towards the Holmegaard Glass Factory in the southern part of Zealand.

Leaving our ship we will drive for approximately 45 minutes, across the area of Denmark known as Zealand, towards the Holmegaard Glass Factory in the southern part of Zealand. The Holmegaard Factory has been in operation for over 180 years and has, over the last centuries, become known the world over for beautiful crystal and glass works. The factory produces Kosta Boda, Orrefors and Royal Copenhagen porcelain and crystal. Our tour will include a visit to the factory where we have a chance to experience the process of producing these fine products. We will also visit the Glass Museum – showing the evolution and history of glass. There will be some free time for shopping or just browsing. We then continue by coach for a short drive to the impressive manor house of Gavnoe. A house was known to be at Gavnoe around the year 1200, but the manor house that we see today was not constructed until approximately 100 years later. It was used as a monastery and the church in the grounds dates back to 1398. Over the years it has been used as a hunting palace for the King, has housed pirates and been a residence for a large number of noblemen. We will have a tour of the manor house itself, which houses an impressive collection of paintings, and make an inside visit to the small church. We will also have time to see the fantastic park renowned for its tulips in May and impressive roses throughout the rest of the summer. Our return to our ship at Korsør will be along the coastal road.

There is a moderate amount of walking required on this tour, and a certain pace will be required to keep up with the group and to get full enjoyment from the tour. A soft drink will be provided during the coach journey.
