We shall travel by coach to the charming town of Drøbak, with its picturesque wooden houses and its many galleries.
We shall travel by coach to the charming town of Drøbak, with its picturesque wooden houses and its many galleries. On our way we will stop at the art gallery of Reidar Finnsrud (a coach ride away from Drøbak), who is a sculptor and painter. Three floors are filled with his work – observations of human nature and form. Reidar Finsrud is today counted by many as one of the world’s most versatile artists. He works within the majority of thinkable formats and techniques – painting, drawing, graphics and sculpture. Continuing on to Drøbak, characterised by numerous timber buildings, which is a picturesque market town with narrow streets that have attracted visitors for generations; Drøbak is a summer hideaway for many Oslo residents. Santa Claus is also rumoured to have a home here, and he has his own post office. In the centre square stands the Christmas House and Post Office, where Christmas cards can be sent with an official Santa stamp 365 days a year – we shall pay a visit. There will be free time to stroll around and savour the atmosphere, and perhaps look in the arts and crafts shops. We shall have refreshments at a local restaurant before we return to Oslo by coach.
There is a moderate amount of walking involved in this tour, and steps in the gallery. In Drøbak walking is at passengers’ own discretion. It should be noted that some works at the gallery are sexually explicit. Please note that the itinerary may operate in reverse.
