Silkeborg offers a mixture of lovely countryside scenery with hilly areas – in fact some of the highest points in Denmark – and a chain of beautiful blue lakes surrounded by forests. Arriving in Silkeborg, after approximately a one hour drive, we will be shown a little of this charming town by foot – with small narrow streets, a bustling square and medieval houses. We also visit the Silkeborg Museum where, among other exhibits, the highlight is the Tollund Man – one of the best-preserved human beings of ancient times. We then continue by coach to Himmelbjerget (or The Heavenly Mountain) rising 147 metres (482 feet) above sea level. If this is not high enough for us, it is possible to climb the tower and enjoy the beautiful view from the top. We will have a refreshment break here, before returning to the pier at Århus.

This tour includes a moderate amount of walking at both stops; each is approximately one hour. Cobblestones, gravel and a couple of steps will be encountered. Passengers may choose to remain on the coach if they prefer. The tower climb at Himmelbjerget is optional. Coffee and a Danish pastry are included.
