Departing the quayside by coach, we travel along the fjord until we arrive at the picturesque village, and popular yet peaceful resort, of Loen. Loen has it all – fjord, fertile land, views of mountains and glaciers, and the Lovatnet Lake. From Loen we continue to Kjenndalen Valley for our first stop. We shall walk up to the Kjenndalen Glacier – part of the mighty Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier in mainland Europe – for a fantastic view. Back onboard the coach, we journey to Kjenndalen Mountain Lodge for well deserved refreshments. The next part of our tour is by boat. We will cruise down the 20 kilometre (12 mile) long Lovatnet Lake to Sande. For the 45 minute duration we can simply relax and take in the view, including the ill reputed Ravnefjellet (Raven’s Mountain). During the 20th century there were two rockslides here causing tidal waves. From Sande our coach takes us back to Olden.
Sensible footwear and warm clothing should be worn for the 20 minute walk to and from the glacier, which is on relatively flat but uneven ground (the path is narrow and may be slippery). This tour is unsuitable for passengers with limited mobility or wheelchair users. Please note that there may not be cover for everyone onboard the boat. It is possible the itinerary will operate in a reverse order. This tour may not operate on all calls.
