This tour gives us a unique chance to explore the inner secrets of the beautiful Oslofjord onboard one of Oslo’s most charming and traditional wooden sailing boats. We shall cruise for approximately one hour among the many small islands while we enjoy the sight of Oslo and its surroundings. Upon arrival at the peninsular of Bygdøy we continue our tour by coach, and visit the famous Viking Ship Museum. Three Viking ships, as well as items found in various chieftains’ burial mounds around the Oslofjord, are situated here. They are well preserved and serve as an excellent example of the Viking period’s daring initiative and ship building skills. From Bygdøy we visit the Vigeland Sculpture Park, home to a unique collection of statues by the Norwegian Sculptor Gustav Vigeland, commissioned by the city of Oslo. He created his own world of human beings and animals in stone, iron and bronze – about 200 statue groups in all. We shall now drive uphill to the Holmenkollen Ski Arena – where ‘Eddie the Eagle’ jumped with so much courage some years ago. The view of the city and the fjord is outstanding and a photo stop will be made.

There are steps down into the boat, which has seats both on deck and inside (the best views are from on deck). You are advised to wear layers of clothing that you can remove if necessary, and a rainproof jacket would be advisable. The boat has toilet facilities and a PA system. The tour through the Vigeland Sculpture Park covers a distance of approximately 850 metres (2,800 feet), on partly paved, partly gravelled ground; there are several flights of steps, totalling somewhere in the region of 100 steps to negotiate (there are ramps in most places for wheelchairs, but this will mean leaving the guide and group). Not suitable for passengers with limited mobility or wheelchair users. Please note that the itinerary may operate in reverse – with the coach journey before the boat trip.
