Departing from the pier, we take a brief sightseeing tour of the city of Funchal by coach. Stopping at the old town, we then take a 15 minute cable car ride up to Monte. Here we will walk to a small square and the church.

Departing from the pier, we take a brief sightseeing tour of the city of Funchal by coach. Stopping at the old town, we then take a 15 minute cable car ride up to Monte. Here we will walk to a small square and the church. After our stop in Monte we will drive to the Botanical Gardens, where there is one of the most beautiful collections of native plants from Macronesia, as well as other varieties from Cape Verde, the Azores and the Canary islands. Among the multitude are orchids and many other native Madeiran flowers. Our final stop will be at the flower market, where we will have some free time to browse. This tour involves some walking and approximately 74 steps. You will get on the cable car by a ramp. The cable car doesn’t actually stop to let passengers on, and this may not be suitable for less mobile people; passengers may take the coach to Monte, if you prefer. This tour does not include the Monte Palace Gardens. Please be aware this if it has been raining the path in the Botanical Gardens may be slippery.
