The second largest city of Libya.
Modern Benghazi, on the Gulf of Sidra, lies a little southwest of the site of the ancient Greek city of Berenice. Benghazi makes a great base for exploring the Green Mountain area and the numerous Roman ruins along the coast, as well as some incredible beaches. From Benghazi you can visit the ancient Roman city of Ptolemais at Tolmeita.
