Departing from the quayside, our coach proceeds partway along the brimstone promontory Capo Caccia, with a brief stop to enjoy the breathtaking view of the magnificent coastline. Our drive continues along the coast before we visit Nuraghe Palmavera, a fascinating prehistoric site. This interesting and complex settlement consists of a so-called ‘palace’, surrounded by approximately 50 nuraghe (stone cottages), most of them circular in shape. We return to Alghero, to admire the oldest part of this Catalan town: the cathedral; the Church of San Francesco; and the Aragon-style palace overlooking the lively main square. There should be a little time for shopping. Please note that due to traffic conditions, it is not possible to visit the tip of the Capo Caccia promontory. There is approximately 1 hour of walking over uneven ground, with 10 steps at Nuraghe Palmavera. In Alghero, all visits are external.
