Take a walk through the city centre where old houses and neoclassical buildings stand side by side with modern dwellings which makes an interesting journey through Greece’s second largest city. An abundance of old taverns, "ouzeries", restaurants, hotels and luxury bars, "bouzouki halls" and sidewalk cafes on street pavements and squares are just waiting to be found. Small family run taverns and basement pastry shops offering a delicious variety of famous Macedonian specialties are well worth a try.
